Hey, aren’t those things full of mercury? Do you hafta call the hazmat team if you drop one?
Why don’t you email Don Holly and ask? This isn’t a hazmat blog!
The guy at Ace Hardware in downtown told me he replaced all of his lights at home with these things and his electric bill went from $100 to $40 a month. That was with a pool that runs 3 hours a day.
I replaced a couple in my house and noticed a pretty good drop in my bill right away.
OK–I’ll take the risk. Count me in!
The mercury content in the lamps is not nearly as much as the mercury that is kept out of the atmosphere by the reduction in energy usage. When the utility companies supply less electricity, they need less fuel(coal) to supply it, hence less pollutants including mercury are released into the atmosphere. The Home Depot has recycling bins to dispose of CFL’s. I have all CFL’s in my home.
I’ve been using CFL’s and they are great! btw, people should be properly disposing all bulbs, not just CFL’s.
Thank you Don! I can appreciate anything that will help make our world more energy efficient. We all need to do our part to contribute to turning America GREEN and changing a light bulb is the best and easiest way to get started!
