Unsolved Mysteries: Two Fullerton Cops Suddenly Put on Paid Leave
In response to a public records request, the FPD’s Professional Standards Bureau just told us:
Officer “H” was placed on administrative leave on July 8th, 2011. As of the last pay period ending July 22nd, the total salary for officer “H” is $3015.36
Officer “I” was placed on administrative leave on July 10th, 2011. As of the last pay period ending July 22nd, the total salary for officer “I” is $2871.76.
So now the big question is…were these officers involved in the Kelly Thomas beating?
We’re not allowed to know the answer to that. But we do know that one of those leaves began three days after the event, and the other went into effect on the Sunday that Kelly Thomas was removed from life support.
For the record, these were the 8th and 9th Fullerton police officers to be put on paid leave pending an internal investigation in the past three years. Those nine officers earned a total of $227,595.92 for not working.
Kill a guy get a paid vacation??
Whats wrong here? Where is the city leadership, the department leadership.
One can only assume, the ONLY assumption is that the FPOA is so powerful that it defies law. Who runs the city, the police union or elected officials.
It’s very simple, either the city council is a slave to the POA or they are derilect in thier elected duty.
How can I help??

The family of the guy who was beaten has created this profile on facebook, which has info on how everyone can help.
Try asking a question at the front desk at the police station and you will understand the danger you are in just being in the presence of those inferiority complex individuals.
I did not approve the release of this information.
Well the leaves could have been from the girl officer that stole the ipad or there’s another situation going on in FPD. That is a person (criminal) committed suicide in their holding facility a few weeks back. Story goes, that the individual was claiming he wanted to take his life as he was being booked for a crime. He should have been taken in for 5150. The officer ignored the claims and the man committed suicide inside the holding facility. The officer was then found to have destroyed the recording tape either on his belt or within the holding facility through an outsourced forensics test that showed the officer pried open the tape and took the tape.
A-nonymous, you seem to know a lot about what’s going on inside the FPD.
Before the Kelly incident there were two officers already on leave pending investigations beginning in late April and mid-May. Perhaps those are the officers you are referencing? Hard to tell.
I wonder how they could have done it? I would think that if you were to get arrested that they would remove everything from your pockets, so that, for example, you couldn’t slit your wrists with a pocket knife. I guess thought that the guy could have hung himself with a belt.
And I bet that a TON of people say that they want to die after getting arrested but don’t kill themselves in a cell. I wouldn’t hold that against the officer. Now if officer did destroy the tape, then that’s another story….
Hey guys, thank you for staying on this story. I missed the piece in the Register, so if not for you I would have missed the issue altogether. Official hat-tip to the Fullerton blog from “Mauve County. ”

@travis… dig a little deeper on fpd officers on probation……
The more everybody digs into it the more we can get this gang of “bad cops” off the streets… they beat keely to death on tuesday, then on saturday they did it again ut this guy lived
@ travis -It could be, I’m just throwing out the info I hear through the grapevine. It’s hard to keep track of what’s going on between the school resource officer, the ipad story, the holding cell suicide, and the Kelly Thomas officers.
Do you know the names of the Kelly Thomas officers?
what was the beating on saturday???? 2 people dead in such a short amount of time..destroying evidence… do these guys have any integrity???? who is looking after what these cops r doing??? sounds like it a bunch of crazy animals with little or no supervision….guess we should hire some babysitters for the police.. maybe private security to patrol the station and patrol what these officers r doing…. drugs/dope additcs, beating/murder of homeless, theft, sexual mis-conduct, mandated reporters (who don’t report), destroying evidence, dui’s,kid nap, probationer officer 4 beating of a minor……what kind of police department is this???????sounds like a bunch of criminals driving around police cars with guns & badges.. THATS A SCARY THOUGHT
I’ve been looking into what you keep sending me, but it’s difficult to figure out what happens when they plead out. Please send more info.

this is the fullerton police on july 9th, just days after they beat kelly Thomas to death. word on the street the cop that hits the phone/guy is the same who beat kelly
Scary to watch that clip.
Fullerton should fear for their lives as these cops act like they are above the law.
Where is the City Council? Where is the investigation?
Alot of people are missing sumthing here. Fullerton just hired a new chief, (who is still on vacation while all this is happening) When McKinley was still chief none of this was going on.
Wrong. We just haven’t gone back past 2009 yet.
Furthermore, I’m pretty sure most if not all of these maniacs/junkies/pickpockets were hired under McKinley’s watch.
Finally, McKinley has been the chief’s boss for a while now as a councilmember. What has he done? Nothing except defer to the “authorities.”
I’ll bet McKinley was there when a DA honcho’s son was hired to the FPD even though he had a DUI. Can’t dodge that one very well, can he?

Heres a story of fullerton police that raided the wrong house!!! help a pastor and his family at gun point….come on mckinley!!!! what’s really going on in fullerton??????
$227,595.92 taxpayer dollars wasted to pay questionable cops to sit at home and eat Doritos while they are investigated. The bar is getting pretty damn low.
“Those nine officers earned a total of $227,595.92 for not working.”
Don’t worry–we can always raise the water rate.
Can we assume that “H” and “I” are the first initials of the officers’ last names? If so, “H” could stand for “Hampton”. The best I can figure, Fullerton only has one officer who’s last name begins with the letter “I”: Paul Irish. Is Officer Irish still on the force as of this week? Let’s get to the bottom of this!
No, the nine officers were listed as A, B, C, etc. It has nothing to do with their names.
They were just having a little fun on Friday night. You can’t blame them they want to have fun!
Maybe we need to call the Fullerton police.
“Killer Klowns”
They would also make excellent goons for the Police, Plumbers and Teachers union.
Killerton, CA. USA
Well, shit, it was really pretty easy. Little guy was just layin’ there.
track them down to prevent them fleeing.
DA Asks Witnesses to Come Forward in Kelly Thomas Case
July 27, 2011The Orange County District Attorneys office has just released a Request for Public Assistance in finding witnesses to the arrest of Kelly Thomas at the Fullerton Transportation Center July 5, 2011.
Anyone with information or who believes they may be a witness are asked to call District Attorney Investigator Stan Berry at 714-347-8813.
When the Laguna Beach PD assassinated a husband and wife at the Montage in Laguna, guess who was Chief? Yep, your own Mike Sellers. Guess what he did when things heated up? Remained silent then bolted to Fullerton.
And McKinley’s kid was one of Seller’s students. Just sayin’
One thing I learned about cops is ! They take care of there own . Lose evidence , lose whatever it takes . So the department is not on the news. Cops have been cleaning up the dirty work for century’s people . They will make the tape sound so good .
This story is sickening. Once anyone with love for his fellow man digs into the details of this outrage it doesn’t leave thier heart. My heart goes out to the Thomas family. As for the officers: pray for God to have mercy on your souls.
@casita, ur right this story is sickening…. but i can not understand about people feeling sad for the family. i am disgusted that they would allow their son/brother to roam the streets hungry, dirty, homeless knowing he was mentally ill. now they claim to be devestated. why didn’t they help him while he was alive and maybe this would have never happened. i am in no way excusing the police, they clearly used deadly force and for that, they do not deserve to be patroling our streets and possibly criminal charges will follow….. but the thomas family doesn’t deserve a paycheck for not giving a crap about their homeless relative…… fpd SHOULD pay big time on this, but put it toward a center that can offer help and aid to homeless and educate the public on menatlly ill conditions…. this way kelly did not have to die in vain……make some good some out of this…
First of all, check your sources. You just assume his family abandoned him. If you have done any research at all you would know that Kelly was diagnosed with a mental disease in his teens and was treated for it. His parents were only allowed by law to force treatment until the age of 18. Obviously Kelly was 37 years old and practiced his right as an ADULT to refuse treatment and roam through life as God made him. I’m not saying treatment for mental disease is wrong, I’m saying he has the right to refuse. His family loved him dearly and had to accept his decision. It is called freedom of choice. The police however are trained to protect and serve not harass and murder. Before you make a snap judgement blaming this poor victim’s family for his death, realize who he cried out for when 6 armed officers beat his bleeding skull into the ground: his dad. It’s on tape for all of us to hear.
All of you whom are making these personal outragous comments about the police in general have no personal experiences of what these officers go through. The men and women in law enforcement are a product from the society we all live in. They were your neighbors, relatives, college students, former military and naturalized citizens. They are from all over California and other states. Thus, they bring into this profession all varied personal experiences, some with no life experiences some still living with parents, former military, different ethinic backgroungs, those from other professions and those with experiences from their communities and others from their native countries.
Being in law enforcement and having training does not eliminate one’s personal experiences, fears and perceptions of events. Try interviewing three people involving one incident, they all tell it differently.
Every profession, person will make a mistake some small some big. We have laws, people still break them. If those officers are at fault for this persons death, then let the courts decide. Don’t act like nazis or communists, you don’t denounce a person until they have had their day in court.
Why do these criminal officers still get paid? Why have we not seen photos of who they are? It really sickens me that they have that much power and that their chief criminal officer and the DA are allowed to have this much power…????
Why dont you go preach restraint to the cops that kill people. Not the people that express natural outrage to the killing. Or better yet, just go away, you are quite useless.
I don’t agree with how the police handled the Kelly Thomas situation but I seen the YouTube video of the other incident that # 16 showed and I don’t understand why these ppl would try to run from the cops. If they handled themselves better than the police wouldn’t get rough with them.
