Bankhead Throws Hissy Fit
Enjoy this clumsy rhetorical diarrhoea on the part of our newly installed Mayor Pro Tem, Don Bankhead as he rationalizes excluding Sharon Quirk-Silva from the officer rotation. If you can figure out his weird justification for doing the wrong thing, and that we ought to return to a rotation (but not by him and not now), then God bless you.
Bankhead says he is tired of blah, blah, blah.
Newsflash, Blanky – we’re tired of crochety, semi-lucid ignoramuses representing the City of Fullerton. You got a pass this election but rest assured every idiocy that comes tumbling out of your mouth will be documented here.
Waht a dope! Fullerton is so screwed!!!!!
To discuss things in private between councilmembers via phone/email exchange on an item before the City Council that is coming up for discussion/approval is CLEARLY in violation of the Brown Act!
This video opens up scrunity on Bankhead’s comments and should be subject to investigation by the District Attorney.
I know for a fact in another city Majority of Councilmembers went to a consultant’s home dispatched 30 miles away to discuss internal politics and how to handle the “disgruntled” Councilmember regarding Mayor/Mayor Pro Tem rotation. The goal was to “fix” the “disgruntled” individual by making their political life in pure hell.
The point is this: elected officials blur the fine line to discuss dirty politics behind closed doors, which they throw the public off the rails by surprises that gives everyone bad taste about politics in general.
Bankhead: If you are so tired and cranky, then why the hell did you bother run for another 4 year term on the council. Geez, if I was in your shoes at 81 years old…I would be at a beautiful beach, relaxing and drinking a pina colada.
Fullerton should not let the three old geezers off the hook just because they are untouchable as an elected official or the perception that you don’t DARE ask three old Grandpas anything!
EXCELLENT points!
Now does Mrs. Quirk-Silva have to carry the water on this and “try” to get a useless (politicized) Orange County District Attorney to side with a Democrat (Quirk-Silva) against three members of his own (RINO) Party?
Or does a member of the public ask our City Attorney to raise this Brown Act violation issue?
Or do members of the public have to pass the hat and hire an attorney to bring suit against this violation (ala, Mr. Bushalla’s efforts versus the illegal expansion of the Fullerton Redevelopment Agency and Mr. Shidu’s perjury versus his run for 4th District Supervisor, et al)?
P.S. Nice pun vs the stupid usless “DARE” program.
Good point Rain.
Admin: what happened to 4F’s lawsuit filed against the city’s bogus redevelopment expansion?
It’s currently snagged on a technicality, but no need to worry we’ve got it covered.
Technicality? PLease explain.
I think Bank’s been hit too many times in the Head, his ramble is all over the place.
I don’t get it. Why are you picking on this nice old man. You should learn to respect your elders they have great wisdom.
“I strongly disagree and object to that type of back room politics.” And the charade that had just elected him mayor pro tem was entirely spontaneous?
Bankhead justifies his election by noting that the rotation system was violated by others after having been in place for several cycles. When he himself voted earlier this year to approve the rotation system that would have logically passed the mayor pro tem position to Sharon Quirk-Silva did he not expect to honor this system at the next opportunity? Did he vote in bad faith, or did he just not care whether or not the system he had just approved would violated in spirit at the first opportunity?
Most extraordinarily, he gave no reason in his three minute bitter tirade for preferring himself in the position over SQ-S. None at all. Just a big “F U” to everyone who didn’t agree with him.
Most importantly, just why did these three people think that it was so important to keep Bankhead in a nominally ceremonial position, knowing that they were about to anger a large number of people who had just voted for McKinley? I believe the answer is that Bankhead will be in charge while Mayor Jones is not present. The two veteran RINOs were essentially splitting the mayor position between themselves.
I am counting the days…
Don…I didn’t vote for you. I no longer want you in office. I think Dick Jones is useless. With that being said, you are stuck in 1958 and need to have your head pulled from your backside. My take on this your little crappy speech here is “Hey, if it aint’ broke, don’t fix it”. Don, go take a nap and step aside. Change is good! Your time (and Doc Hee Haw’s) is done! I’m unclear as to why Fullerton still voted for you, but as my momma used to say after dinner….”are you done??? Good, wipe yourself”. Now go and rest old man!!
