The natives are getting restless. Well, some of them, anyhow. It appears that a campaign to keep the Fullerton Police Department is underway. Here’s the Facebook site.
Obviously the cop union has decided to start promoting its own perpetuation since the union would cease to exist if, say, the OC Sheriff Department assumed a police services contract with Fullerton – as Yorba Linda just did. And the residents of Fullerton are paying over 30% more, per capita, for municipal policing than the good folks in the City of Gracious Living.
The union’s intention is no doubt to try to make “local control” a fall 2012 campaign issue – and that’s good. Given the behavior of the FPOA brethren and sistren the past couple of years, and budget-busting cost of the FPD to the taxpayers, reasonable people may well be wondering about alternatives.
A lot of people will be asking where was the “local control” when Veth Mam was framed? Where was it when Albert Rincon was molesting women in his patrol car? Where was it when Kelly Thomas was murdered?

What a concept! All the more reason Fullerton council should seek the services of OCSD.
Bring in some OC Sheriff Deputies and make it to where the majority of the deputies are latino; better yet latina.
It seems that most, if not all police abuse as of late are committed by white boy cops against latinos. The white good ol’ boys are usually the ones pulling over Mexicans just because they’re Mexican and assume they “bang”. Hispanic cops don’t do that.
That wouldn’t be the case if there were more latinos/latinas policing our city (or your city).
And all of this opinion is coming from a ‘white boy’ myself.

The Keep Fullerton Police campaign reminds me of the Keep Brea Police group in Yorba Linda. How did that work out?
Turning this over to the sheriff IS NOT the solution. Quality policing requires higher IQ. It’s that simple. Brutality does not make a good police officer, yet this is what they hire. They hire psychopaths.
Regarding the sheriff’s department, although this entity DOES have a higher standard of conduct for it’s officers, the sheriff is ALSO linked to the state department and functions as an asset resource for matrixed abductions.
For example, the sheriff delivered Poly Klass to then field aspect director Pete Wilson for use in ritual human sacrifice.
Their cover is their character credibility. They do not tolerate brutality for this reason. It would call attention to their organization thus jeopardizing their role in occult rendition.

I’m 56 years old and I’ve lived and been just about everywhere from coast to coast, and like everyone else, I’ve had the ocassional encounter with “law enforcement.”
They used to be called peace officers — PEACE officers — and that paradigm shift is the major reason we’re in the mess we’re in. Now they show up in cammies with the biggest frigging guns on earth.
Anyway, without exception, it only (and rarely) became testy with the young, white punkass guys who thought they were walking the earth like the kings of shit.

Once, many years ago, I was working nights on a studio construction gig in Edmond Oklahoma. We worked at night, mostly, and one night as I was hauling some carpet scraps and construction junk in my pickup trick I was pulled over, for no legitimate reason. These cops were fishing. I was a big long-haired dude back then — still am, btw — and they made me get out of my truck, they did the flashlight in the eyes thing, and they were so rude and threatening that I honestly was in legitimate fear of my life for the next several minutes. It was the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere in Bumfuque Oklahoma, and two cops have me out of my truck for no good reason and are fucking with me. I’ll never forget it. It was the most scary experience.
No power, no control. And as we all know, power and control are everything on this dangerous planet.
It was a young guy and an old guy. The young guy was about half my size and about a third my IQ, and he was dangerous, yo. He looked like he was sixteen years old. This is absolutely true. He was dangerous. This was back in the mid 80’s so now he’s a dangerous OLD white boy, which is probably worse. The old guy is likely dead by now. I hope so.
I like Wrong Guy’s idea of more latina police officers. I figure this would cool things off pretty quickly. The need of the day is to get away from “law enforcement” and back to “peace officer.” A little peace would be nice, for a change.

My son is mentally ill and had recently been picked up by a female deputy who convinced him to let her take him to College Hospital for treatment; something he really needed as opposed to harassment and interrogation which seems to be the usual coarse of action for the macho white boy male cop towards a young 18 year old male with slightly long hair.

The problem is you can’t dictate race or gender in staffing. You can’t say I want my city to be 75% Latina females. If POBR prevents the Fullerton police from acting with honesty and contrition…oh well. That is what your unions lobbied for.
You have to loft a constitutional oversight committee in perpetuity to deal with this, but you not be able to get people to support this, because they are naturally reactive and prefer not to deal with problems until directly confronted with them. It’s weird having a conscience in a world largely populated by predators and people who just don’t give a fuck. On that, people don’t value their character. I don’t think they ever will. For being a relatvely small department FPD has got to be one of the most corrupted police agancies in the nation. I have never seen so many bad cop stories come from a department of similar size. And the sad part is that the rest of the cops aren’t speaking up and calling for swift and decisive action against the ‘bad cops’. Quite the opposite, in fact. They pay their attorney fees, give them around the clock security protection and NEVER EVER question their deplorable and repulsive behaviors.
This can lead me to only one conclusion. The entire department is corroded and needs to be uprooted and replaced.
One of the first orders of business by the new Council should be to meet with OCSD and start the negotiation process. Would they be replacing Frankenstein with Dracula? Quite possibly. But unless you are going to form a civilian posse of armed volunteers to patrol your neighborhoods (which would probably work better than what you have now) what other choice do you have?

Need some clarification about your ‘30% less per capita’ statement. Are you referencing Yorba Linda’s current contract with Brea, or the contract that kicks in next May with OCSD?
Anyway, Yorba Linda is a lot different than Fullerton. Higher per household income, much less crime and, much less gang activity.
How does a group of people who are so blessed with job security, a decent wage and a generous retirement run so amuck? Where the hell was the wake up call to the department years ago? The criminal defense attorneys that I personally know all warned me years ago before moving to Fullerton about the way the department rolls. All you officers knew that the rogue elements were dropping ball bearings in the valve cover and the thing would seize up eventually and screw up the futures for you and your families didn’t you? How could you not? How could you let it come to this? Local control is vital but not if the local control is of the devil. The FPD is finally gonna have its come to Jesus meeting. Something tells me 10 million dollars means more to most than the colors green versus black. Ya know I honestly think that 10 million dollars could arm every household in the city with a good shotgun or revolver and we can all watch the crime go way down.
