Tommy Lasorda Day; Mayor Whitaker Hits Stride!
If you are one of those people who believes the City of Fullerton has its priorities all screwed up what with The Worst Roads n’ OC® and the most precarious of budget situations, FFFF has damn Good News. The City, under the proud guidance of Mayor Bruce Whitaker has proclaimed September 22 a day of tribute to the late Dodger manager and Fullerton resident, Tommy Lasorda. Lasorda maintained a Fullerton house for many decades, it seems.
Of course a mere Council meeting proclamation wouldn’t be nearly enough to honor the legendary Dodger, nor indeed, fill up a whole morning of festivities. So the day almost designed itself! Here’s the press release detailing the stuff that’s going on. There’s even going to be a movie!
What’s that I see? “Inaugural Tommy Lasorda Day?” You mean there’s going to be one every year? Awesome!
The scenario plays out in such a way that cynics are bound to snicker: a Sister City arrangement with Tollo, Italy, original home of the Lasorda clan, replete with a tree planting. But these special relationships matter to a city’s prestige and it’s important for our mayors to be able to make trips to represent our interests abroad.
Someone spent a lot of time and effort to bring this day to fruition. City Hall insiders are effusive in their praise for Mayor Whitaker who has spearheaded these efforts. And those who have followed his political career for many. many years will find satisfaction in this accomplishment.

Fatal Stabbing Arrest:
On Monday, August 30, 2021, at approximately 4:39 AM, Fullerton Police Officers responded to Harbor Blvd. and Walnut Ave. regarding a victim who was stabbed.
Upon arrival, officers located a male Hispanic victim in his late twenties with a stab wound located on the pedestrian bridge that crosses over Harbor Blvd.
Fullerton Police Detectives quickly began their investigation into several leads and soon identified Abigail Jorge Gonzalez-Castillo, a 29-year-old male from Fullerton, as the suspect of the murder. On September 5, 2021, Detectives located and arrested Gonzalez-Castillo in Fullerton. He was arrested on suspicion of murder with special circumstances and was transported to the Orange County Jail, where he is held without bail.
This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information about this homicide is encouraged to contact Fullerton Police Detective G. Johnson at (714) 738- 6759. Watching Bruce conduct a council meeting is like watching sap run down a tree. Jesus H. the meetings are interminable. He seems to be going in slow motion.

And he finally can be part of a semi-competent majority for the very first time since the summer of 2012 and this is his response. And voting with SIlva and Zahra? What the Hell?
This post really does shine a light on the idiotic priorities we have in Fullerton. I get it that the politicians like to dress up like important people and sit on a dais. But seriously, this is just absurd. This is what is important to Mayor Whitaker and his friends.

Mayor Whitaker is doing an outstanding job as Mayor. He’s polite to everyone, listens to everyone, brings all the issues into direct sunlight. Please stop bashing a man who’s doing his best. Or would you rather have Fitzgerald, and alike?
