Ackerman Hosts Lobbyist Party in Capital
One of our Friends sent of the tidbit from the Capitol Morning Briefing:
(Linda) Ackerman for Assembly 2009 (72nd AD), reception, donation levels $3900, $2000, 5:30 p.m., Spataro, 1415 L St. Contact: 714 731 2233.
It seems that the carpetbagging object of our disaffection is having a fundraiser tonight at Spataro. Never heard of the place? That’s because it’s in Sacramento – right across from the Capitol building. What a place for the squadron of capital lobbyists to descend, en mass, and start their, er, investment in Mrs. Ackerman.
Oh, that’s right. She doesn’t live in our district, and it looks like she intends to finance her way to Sacramento – from Sacramento; where Dick Ackerman met a lot of monied interests in his tenure up there.
But, Mrs. Ackerman, sooner or later you will actually have to show up in the 72nd!
Did you check out the comments in the ratings section for this restaurant? Check out this one:
“The host was quite diffident and, though not rude, certainly not warm and welcoming. Maybe he was having a bad night. The waiter (Steve)seemed nervous and somewhat disengaged(perhaps he’s new?) The only person who actually enhanced our experience was the assistant waiter (Frank).
We will not be going there again.”
LOL! Nice choice or restaurants Hackermans!
Art, those people must not have been high-rolling lobbyists of the sort Ackerman is trying to put the squeeze on.
I’ll bet Mike Duvall used to take his lobbyist ‘dates” there.
This is really just disgusting. Ackerman knows his old lady could’t get elected to the PTA in Fullerton without his lobbyist pals throwing around thousands of dollars.
Ackerman won’t move to Fullerton and yet she will fly all the way up to Sacramento to get her hands on some lobbyist cash? She’s not doing a very good job at even pretending to represent us.
Spataro is a favorite lobbyist hotspot (or if you prefer, a den of thieves) in the state capitol. The Sac Bee went digging for lobbyist giveaways earlier this year and found over 400 gift meals were reported from that restaurant alone.

Those Ackermans have expensive taste!
Best government money can buy.
Linda Ackerman should have been at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California Board meeting today. Since she no longer living in the service area she represents, will she resign?
Maybe she was. We’ll find out.
The MWD BOD had a “workshop” today on the new MOU for 2.55 @ 55. Maybe she didn’t think MWD pensions are as important as fundraising.
Now that she “lives” in Fullerton there could be a problem. We already have a representative. Good ol’ Jim Blake.
If you knew the difference between your ass and a hole in the ground you would know that the MWD is run by a legislative body, hence she would have to resign for that reason alone. Would be nice if you people spent more time learning about real life rather than trying to trash the people who actually know how this world works.
Loki you are a real donkey. She hasn’t been elected anything yet and so is still entitled to sit on the MWD – for that reason alone. But now your heroine, who clearly knows “how this world works,” has established a phony residence in Fullerton. And we already have an MWD representative. Can she remain as an appointee of the Municipal Water District? Go scuttle off and find out for us.
But please remove your own head out of your ass before you come back here and spout off.
And FYI, stooge, we don’t trash anybody. They trash themselves – we just shine the light on what they do. Stick around.
Look! We have our own Ackerman troll on board! Loki I will have something up soon that you will really enjoy!
I know who Loki is!
So do I. And Loki better get back to work.
Although I agree with the idea of residency requirements, it seems like it would be more effective to simply make it a campaign point: “She liked it here SO much she moved away–now that there is an open teat..err..seat, she wants to come back.”
Speaking of the public teat, I noticed Dickybird filed to run for Dist 3 of the Board of Equalization in 2010. I’d like to think the Ackermans are just dedicated public servants, but I can’t help but think they really just forgot how to get a real job.
Thanks for the tip about the BOE. That would figure. There’s a lot of lobbyist gravy to be slurped up there and almost nobody knows about it.
Why can’t these trough feeders just go away?
The residency is already a campaign issue – just look at Grover’s posts. I’m sure Norby will attend to that, too. He’d better.
That plus they just love easy money.
“real life”, Mrs. Ackerman DOES NOT LIVE IN OUR DISTRICT. How “real” does it have to be for you to believe its “real” Loki?
Looks like your the one that has head up ass.
Loki, for those of us that are not as cunning as you, please explain the meaning of “how this world works”.
Has Linda Ackerman said how she will vote on the MWD employee pension hikes? Does anybody know when that vote will take place?
#18,
The MWD gave up on the pension spike.

I’m answering my own question.
As reported on Orangejuiceblog:
“Art Pedroza posted this in Fresh Juice, Water, labor, pension spikes on October 12th, 2009.
Less than 24 hours before it was to consider a controversial proposal to increase pension benefits by 25 percent, Metropolitan Water District once again took the item off its agenda, this time for good,” according to the North County Times.
It was the second time Los Angeles-based Metropolitan, Southern California’s biggest water wholesaler, has delayed consideration of the proposal. Its 37-member board of directors was originally scheduled to vote on it on Sept. 15.
To Art,
I’m not too good at this am I?
Thanks so much for the info!
Also what do you think is Lilnda Ackerman’s Achilles Heel? (Aside from being a carpetbagger). Is her business “experience” legit?
#21,
I think that Linda will have trouble with her husband’s record. A new Field Poll distributed today reveals that our Legislature has only a 13% approval rating. That is awful!
Norby is not tainted by any previous time spent in Sacramento.

Thanks for your insight. One more question, since you seem to be a fountain of knowledge. How did Dick Ackerman vote in regards to raising our taxes in order to balance the state budget?
