The Candidates Should be Ashamed of Their Ballot Statements

I was talking to a co-worker the other day about the 72nd AD Special Election Sample ballot that came out last week. He expressed a feeling of disgust about the statements of the two traditional party candidates. I asked him to write up a post on the subject and he obliged. Here it is. The images were added by yours truly.

The Republican and Democrat candidates for the 72nd Assembly District Election ought to be ashamed of their ballot statements. But shame, as we learned from the example of Mike Duvall, is an emotion with a real low threshold for most politicians.

Just damn glad to be here...
Just damn glad to be here...

Let’s first examine Chris Norby’s ballot statement. He mentions how his opposition to higher taxes has earned him the endorsement of Tom McClintock and Ed Royce. Ed Royce? What kind of nonsense is this? A few weeks ago Ed Royce was supporting the lying, fraudulent, carpetbagging campaign of Linda Ackerman. And now Norby is bragging about the value of the endorsement from this empty little suit?

Norby touts his “vote” to place immigration agents in County jails to weed out illegal aliens. Why INS agents are needed to “identify” aliens is unclear and what, exactly they are doing in the jails remains a mystery. Well “whoop-de-do” as Archie Bunker once said. This is not an accomplishment, just pandering to the rabid anti-immigrant crowd, and Norby should know better.

Norby also takes credit for “spearheading” “improvements” to the 5 and 22 freeways as Chairman of the OCTA, even though both projects were in the works long before Norby showed up; and of course, the 22 was months and months behind schedule until the OCTA bureaucrats and the contractor worked out a massive, mutual face-saving change order that cost the taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.

So much for Norby.

Now, let’s take a look at the ballot statement of Norby’s opponent, Democrat John MacMurray.

MacMurray graduated from donkey college...
Why don't they send donkeys to college? Because nobody likes a smart ass.

As a public school teacher should we expect more from MacMurray than a clumsy metaphor? Of course not! For MacMurray the awkward concept is the “three-legged table” supported equally by the three balanced legs of private sector, non-profit sector, and public sector. Everybody who has ever seen a three legged table please raise his hand. Apparently, John is worried about using the word “stool,” which is what his statement starts to smell like in the very first sentence.

I have great reservations about Mr. MacMurray’s invention of  a “non-profit sector,” especially after the FFFF discoveries about how Fullerton’s Pam Keller has so effectively blurred the line between non-profit and public sector – so as to make the distinction in the mind of a liberal, non-existent.

MacMurray’s assertion that “we keep cutting support for our education system and cutting access to it” is obviously designed to generate outrage in the noblest liberal breast, but it’s a lie. Proposition 98 provides that a guaranteed percentage of the State budget goes to “education.” At least it goes to education spending. Any overall budget reductions are the fault of MacMurray’s spend-crazy Democrats in the Legislature who just can’t say nyet to the demands of public employee unions.

Cliches, lies, nonsense. Can’t we finally get an honest and intelligent ballot statement from the two candidates who are able to pay for one? Guess not. Not yet, anyway.

  1. MY thoughts on “Eddie Royce”…

The son of George and Agnes, Eddie Haskell was the smart-mouthed best friend of Wally Cleaver. The character, played in the original series by Ken Osmond, has become a cultural reference, recognized as an archetype for insincere sycophants. Ward once remarked that “[Eddie] is so polite, it’s almost un-American”.[1] The archetype became so well known that the term “Eddie Haskell” was adopted into everyday use.

He was known for his neat grooming[2] — hiding his shallow and sneaky character. Typically, Eddie would greet his friends’ parents with overdone, good manners and often a compliment such as, “That’s a lovely dress you’re wearing, Mrs. Cleaver.” However, when no parents were around, Eddie was always up to no good — either conniving with his friends, or picking on Wally’s younger brother Beaver. Eddie’s two-faced style was also typified by his efforts to curry favor by trying to talk to adults at the level he thought they would respect, such as referring to their children as Theodore (Beaver’s much-disliked given name) and Wallace, even though the parents called them Beaver and Wally.

A weaselly wise guy, Eddie could be relied upon to connive and instigate schemes with his friends — schemes for which they would be in the position of blame, if (and usually when) caught.

    1. FFFF should establish a Hall of Fame and this excellent comment-insight penned by Au courant should be given a special Wall or Room of its own!

  2. Mr. Peabody’s comment maligns “…the rabid anit-immigrant crowd…”.

Peabody, an obvious “open borders Leftist” or an, “I got mine, screw you – Libertarian” overlooks that tiny word ILLEGAL, as in “illegal alien”.

I’m certain that I’ve done more (financially, and in every other meaningful way) to help individuals LEGALLY enter and subsequently become citizens of the USA than Peabody and all of his phony “social justice” and “destroy America’s Rule of Law” cronies, put together.

Then Peabody criticizes the Democrat’s ballot statement, because it is a nearly “perfect” presentation of the ridiculous Democrat-Communist “thinking” of the political party which Peabody undoubtedly favors (either as a registered Democrat or as a gutless RINO of the Oh so “conservative” O.C. Repugnant Party).

    1. Uh, “Rain” if you had actually read the post you’d see it was written by Peabody’s co-worker. But don’t let that stop you from going off on one of your pea-brained Commies in the Cupboard rants.

Why is it that anybody that you disagree with is a flame-thowing leftist, pinko?

      Seek help.

        1. Ahhh, now we’ve gotten into the grist of tightly reasoned argumentation.

“Communist” is a real political philosophy which by definition boils down to Atheist, Socialist and Totalitarian. The term Communist has fallen out of favor because it is too tightly bound up with so many decades of historical evidence of its methods and horrid results.

What part of the Democrat Party record over the past thirty years has not led directly to those three ingredients of Communism (Atheist, Socialist, Totalitarian) in their entire political agenda?

The Democrat Party in America today is by any measure effectively the Communist Party in America and Obama is their Totalitarian in Chief.

The RINO’s are merely lazy big government Democrats in disguise, who don’t want to compete with the other Democrat-Communist Party big government control (and special deals for special people) guys.

All of this Leftist big government control philosophy is reliant upon destruction of the natural human family, with “normalization” of anti-man homosexual mental illness and anti-man, anti-children, anti-family Feminism as major constituencies attacking the pillars of safe stable free society, such as private property rights and secure national borders.

But let’s not stray into dsiscussions which are not Politically Correct, because some big government control advocate might start into childish name calling (like the insightful contribution by “All Wet” posted below).

          1. Good Lord! please don’t forget your medication Mr. Tightly Reasoned Argumentation. You are wound up waaaay too tight.

  3. When your congressional repsentative endorses you, you go public. What’s so hard to understand?

Puting ICE in the jails was one of the better decissions made. Now if we could just shoot ’em as they crossed with their drugs and guns!!

    1. When your “congressional representative” endorsed your completely truth-challenged, unqualified, and carpetbagging opponent just a short month ago, I would suggest that endorement isn’t worth a paper cupful of canine excrement.

Norby doesn’t need that endorsement now, it’s just a kick in the teeth to all the people who did show the integrity to support him when it counted.

  4. I have to agree with MR. Rain in post number six… ‘

“The Democrat Party in America today is by any measure effectively the Communist Party in America and Obama is their Totalitarian in Chief.”

Saw a bumper sticker that I liked… The LEFT have BETRAYED our country

  5. Say admin, how about letting Jane Rands post a ballot statement on FFFF. It might be refreshing to read something that isn’t being dragged down by a load of verbal bullshit.
